The Nancy Oldfield Trust
We offer People Living with Dementia and their carers an interesting day out on the Norfolk Broads in a motor cruiser, sailing boat, rafted canoe or pedal launch. We are the only facility in East Anglia providing such a wide range of water activities and opportunities for our visitors. All boats are skippered by trained instructors, and we are licensed by Royal Yachting Association and Adventure Activities Licensing Authority. The Trust is run by a small team of staff who are supported by around 80 volunteers, to find out more about becoming a volunteer please get in touch.
We operate every day – motor cruisers go out all year round, sailing, canoeing and pedal launches between April and October. You can experience the fun and exhilaration of sailing or canoeing, observe nature close at hand, or take a leisurely cruise on a motor boat on Barton Broad and the river Ant. We offer morning, afternoon or a full day session and the suggested donation for 2023 is £17 per visitor, carers go free.
For those who wish to explore the area and stay for longer, we have an on-site fully accessible, self-catering bungalow which accommodates up to 10 people and a cottage in South Norfolk cottage which sleeps up to 6 people. Both properties are accessible and adapted. We also offer a bursary fund (not means tested) to anyone who might need help funding an activity or accommodation. Application forms can be found on our website.
